Compress an image to 100 KB
100 KB is 102,400 bytes. On the 1200 by 800 noise fixture the search stayed at full resolution. The byte count under the tool is that run.

Every one of these runs entirely in your browser.
Fixture: 1200x800 deterministic noise, JPEG. Target 100.0 KB (102400 bytes). Output 95.8 KB (98119 bytes). The output was within the target. Pixels 1200×800, scale 1, JPEG quality 0.152. 1 KB = 1024 bytes. These figures are the stored fixture run, not a prediction for a different file.
How to compress an image to 100 KB
- Select one or more imagesA single file downloads directly. More than one is zipped.
- Use the 100 KB ceilingThis page preselects it. 100 KB is 102400 bytes.
- Read the size in the noteQuality and scale are chosen so the file lands at or under the ceiling when that is possible.
About this page
A wider ceiling than 20 KB or 50 KB
The fixture did not need to lose pixels to fit under 102400 bytes. Quality alone was enough. That is specific to this noise image. A 4000-pixel camera file may still be scaled. The compressor says so in the note instead of pretending every picture behaves like the fixture.
Frequently asked questions
Does this upload the photo to hit 100 KB?
No. Encoding runs on a canvas in the tab, in a worker when the browser has OffscreenCanvas, otherwise on the main thread.
Can I set a minimum as well as 100 KB?
Yes. A JPEG under that floor is padded with comment bytes, and the padding is included in the reported size. It will not pad past the ceiling.
